Explore Indian Rocks Beach on a Luxury Cart

Indian Rocks Beach is the anti-Clearwater: two and a half miles of low-rise barrier island, no high-rise wall along the Gulf, and a beach town that still looks like the 1970s in the best way. There is no resort strip here. There are cottages, small condo buildings, about thirty beach accesses and a couple of seafood institutions that have been in the same families for decades.

There is one thing you need to know before you rent anything with four wheels here, and most rental companies gloss over it. Indian Rocks Beach draws a hard legal line between a golf cart and a low-speed vehicle. Unregistered golf carts are banned from Gulf Boulevard through town β€” they are confined to the side streets. Registered LSVs are permitted on Gulf Boulevard itself.

Every cart we rent is a registered, insured, tagged LSV. That means our carts are road-legal on Gulf Boulevard in Indian Rocks Beach, which is the difference between having the run of the town and being stuck in the residential grid. If you are comparing quotes here, ask the other company which category their fleet falls into.

Local tip: Our carts are registered LSVs, so unlike side-street-only golf carts they're road-legal on Gulf Boulevard through Indian Rocks Beach.

LSV or golf cart β€” in Indian Rocks Beach it decides where you can drive

Indian Rocks Beach permits properly equipped low-speed vehicles on Gulf Boulevard while banning golf carts from that road through town. Golf carts are limited to the municipal side streets, plus a defined set of Gulf Boulevard crossings at 8th and 12th Avenues and 15th through 27th Avenues. On a side-street-only cart, crossing town means zig-zagging.

Our fleet is registered LSVs β€” VIN, tag, insurance, seat belts, headlights, brake lights, turn signals, mirrors and a windshield β€” so Gulf Boulevard is open to us. Practically, that is the whole reason to care: it turns a two-and-a-half-mile town into a single straight drive instead of a puzzle.

The 2026 rule change every renter should know

In June 2026 the Indian Rocks Beach commission tightened its rules to line up with Florida state law. The minimum age to operate a cart on public streets rose to 18, drivers must carry identification, and fines for violations run as high as $500. Younger drivers are only covered where they hold a licence or learner's permit and are accompanied by a licensed adult.

None of that changes anything for our renters, because our own policy is already stricter: 21 or older, valid driver's licence, active personal auto-insurance policy. We mention it because the rules changed recently enough that older guidance online is now wrong, and a $500 fine is a bad souvenir.

Delivery in Indian Rocks Beach

Delivery and pickup are free anywhere in Indian Rocks Beach β€” Gulf Boulevard condos, the numbered avenues, the cottages on the Intracoastal side, or a rental house up toward the Belleair Causeway.

It is a short run down the island from us at Clearwater Beach, so same-day handovers are usually workable outside peak weekends. We arrive with the cart charged, walk you through the controls and the Gulf Boulevard rules for the town, and take it back from the same address at the end of your stay.

good to know

Indian Rocks Beach Golf Cart FAQs

Can I drive a golf cart on Gulf Boulevard in Indian Rocks Beach?οΌ‹

It depends entirely on what you rented. Indian Rocks Beach bans unregistered golf carts from Gulf Boulevard through town but permits registered low-speed vehicles on it. Our whole fleet is registered LSVs, so yes β€” Gulf Boulevard is legal for our carts.

What's the difference between a golf cart and an LSV here?οΌ‹

An LSV is a registered motor vehicle: VIN, tag, insurance, seat belts, lights, signals, mirrors and a windshield. A golf cart has none of that legal standing. In Indian Rocks Beach the distinction decides whether you can use the main road or only the side streets.

How old do you have to be to drive a golf cart in Indian Rocks Beach?οΌ‹

The town raised its minimum to 18 in June 2026, and drivers must carry ID. Our own rental policy is stricter β€” renters must be 21 or older with a valid licence and active personal auto insurance β€” so 21 is the number that applies when you rent from us.

What are the fines for breaking the cart rules in Indian Rocks Beach?οΌ‹

Violations of the ordinance the commission passed in June 2026 can run up to $500. It's worth knowing because a lot of the advice still online predates that change.

Which Gulf Boulevard crossings can golf carts use?οΌ‹

For carts restricted to side streets, the designated Gulf Boulevard crossings are at 8th and 12th Avenues and at 15th through 27th Avenues. Our registered LSVs aren't limited to crossings β€” they can travel Gulf Boulevard itself.

Do you deliver golf carts to Indian Rocks Beach?οΌ‹

Yes, free delivery and pickup anywhere in town β€” Gulf Boulevard condos, the numbered avenues, the Intracoastal-side cottages and up toward the Belleair Causeway. It's a short run down the island from us.

Can I drive the cart after dark in Indian Rocks Beach?οΌ‹

Yes. The town requires headlights, brake lights, turn signals and a windshield for after-dark driving, all of which our carts carry as standard, along with a full LED package.

Where should I park the cart to get to the beach?οΌ‹

Indian Rocks Beach has around thirty public accesses spread along the town, most with a shower, so you're rarely far from one. Park at an access and walk on β€” carts are never allowed on the sand itself.

Can I take the cart from Indian Rocks Beach to Indian Shores?οΌ‹

Yes. Gulf Boulevard continues south into Indian Shores at the same posted speed, so it's a straightforward and pretty drive. North toward Belleair Beach works the same way.

Is a cart worth it in a town this small?οΌ‹

That's exactly why it's worth it. Indian Rocks Beach is two and a half miles long with no resort strip and limited parking at the accesses β€” short hops between the beach, Crabby Bill's and your rental are precisely what a cart is for.

How many people fit in the cart?οΌ‹

Six, in cognac leather captain's chairs with seat belts for each seat, plus a built-in cooler for a beach-access picnic.

Can I rent a cart for my whole week in Indian Rocks Beach?οΌ‹

Yes, and multi-day rates are the better value β€” most Indian Rocks guests keep the cart for the full stay and leave the car parked. Daily and multi-day rates are on our pricing page; hourly is by phone only.
